Hydrogenics Europe Improves Engineering Data Quality With Intergraph Smart® P&id

Hydrogenics, a global leader in designing and installing hydrogen systems, faced challenges with the quality and accessibility of its engineering information. The company sought to replace its in-house P&ID solution with a database-driven system that could integrate seamlessly with its existing IFS ERP software. Partnering with vendor Hexagon, Hydrogenics aimed to automate data exchange to eliminate manual work and improve document consistency.

Hexagon implemented its Intergraph Smart® P&ID solution and built a customized, bidirectional interface to the IFS ERP system. This centralizes engineering data, making it automatically available to all departments and removing the potential for human error. The solution successfully migrates data from over 600 items and 6,000 properties on project P&IDs, significantly improving efficiency. The field service team now requires less support, and approximately 20 projects per year benefit from the integrated system.
