Case Study: S&K Aerospace achieves faster, reliable large-part inspection with Hexagon laser tracker and probing solutions

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the S&K Aerospace Case Study

How partnership and services help meet quality and timing challenges by building upon a strong foundation of expertise

S&K Aerospace, an aerostructure specialist in the Republic of Korea, faced significant challenges in performing reliable and efficient quality control measurements on very large aircraft parts, some up to 16 metres long. Outsourcing this metrology work proved unstable and time-consuming, which conflicted with their all-in-one production philosophy. They turned to vendor Hexagon for a solution to this complex measurement problem.

Hexagon implemented a solution utilizing their Leica Absolute Tracker AT960 laser tracker and Leica T-Probe, combined with SpatialAnalyzer (SA) software. This technology provided a fast, reliable, and high-accuracy method for inspecting large-volume parts, including hard-to-reach points. The partnership was further strengthened by Hexagon's aerospace expertise and exceptional local support, allowing S&K to bring their measurement process in-house and reliably meet their stringent quality and timing requirements.
