A Hexagon Case Study
Foxconn engineers sought to validate a simulation methodology to accurately model and optimize loudspeaker designs for production. Their challenge was to develop a process that could predict loudspeaker performance from a simple component model up to its final in-product configuration, ensuring both accuracy and cost-effectiveness. They partnered with Hexagon and leveraged its Actran software for this task.
Hexagon's solution involved a multi-phase validation process where engineers built and compared increasingly complex models, starting with a Thiele-Small model in Actran. This methodology was successfully validated against measurements, proving accurate for a wide frequency range. By implementing this process, Foxconn gained high confidence in using Hexagon's Actran to affordably and accurately simulate loudspeakers at both the component and full-system levels, providing crucial insights for performance optimization in the final product.
