How Brown & Miller Racing Solutions uses portable scanning to power an engineering-based tube-shaping process

Brown & Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS), a premier fabricator of performance tubing for NASCAR and Formula 1 teams, faced the challenge of creating precise, repeatable custom parts. Their old scanning system was obsolete, making it impossible to efficiently generate the engineering files needed for their tube-bending machines and slowing down their ability to serve customers. They turned to vendor Hexagon for a modern portable scanning solution.

Hexagon implemented its ROMER Absolute Arm TubeShaper system, which combines a portable CMM with purpose-built software. This solution allowed BMRS to quickly scan parts, create accurate CAD/CAM files, and produce high-quality, repeatable tubing with a 24-hour turnaround time. The Hexagon system reduced lead times for custom parts from weeks to under a week, enabling BMRS to maintain its position as a critical supplier to 100% of NASCAR teams.
