Case Study: Sibelga improves Brussels utility network management with Hexagon GIS

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Sibelga Case Study

Hexagon’s GIS Solutions Improve Brussels’ Gas & Electric Distribution Network

Sibelga, the sole distributor of gas and electricity for the Brussels capital region, faced significant challenges with an obsolete geographic information system (GIS) that was no longer supported. They needed to reduce software update costs, integrate multiple tools, and simplify their IT architecture to improve workflow processes for their network serving over 1.8 million people. Hexagon's advanced utility GIS software was selected to meet these expanding needs.

The solution implemented by Hexagon, known as ATLAS at Sibelga, integrated all asset data into a single unified database. This provided real-time data access, network analysis, and improved field processes across company departments. The results included substantially improved data quality, greater operational efficiency, and a more coherent IT architecture. Due to this success, Sibelga plans to expand the system to manage its telecommunications network and build a real-time outage management system.
