Hexagon software used to build precise ship models at the Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Centre

The Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamics Centre (BSHC), a national research facility, required CAD/CAM software capable of designing highly accurate ship models and propellers and generating precise NC code to meet strict international tolerances for its hydrodynamic testing. They turned to Hexagon's VISI CAD/CAM software to address this challenge.

Hexagon's solution involved implementing its VISI Modelling and VISI Machining software, which enabled BSHC to create sophisticated 3D models and generate accurate toolpaths for its 3-axis and 5-axis machining centers. This allowed the centre to achieve the required tight tolerances of +/- 0.05mm, dramatically increase productivity, and attract new international partners. The collaboration with Hexagon reseller VIT Ltd. also led to the development of custom applications, ensuring the centre could continue to utilize the latest technologies for complex model production.
