A Hexagon Case Study
Hansgrohe AG, a manufacturer of premium bathroom fixtures, faced challenges in ensuring the precise form and function of its designer tap and mixer collections. The company's production and central metrology departments were geographically separated, causing delays in initial sample inspections. They also relied on manual measuring devices, which provided pass/fail results instead of the actual dimensional data needed to control and optimize their machining processes effectively. To address this, they turned to vendor Hexagon and its DEA GLOBAL coordinate measuring machines.
Hexagon implemented two DEA GLOBAL CMMs equipped with PC-DMIS software. One was placed directly on the Axor production floor, drastically reducing development time by enabling immediate process control and faster initial sample inspections. The solution replaced manual gauges, providing real, documentable measurement data for analysis. This allowed operators to precisely adjust machining centers, reducing downtime and bringing the manufacturing process under tighter control. Hexagon's technology, with its direct CAD import capability, ensured the efficient and high-quality production of fixtures used in over 130 countries worldwide.
