GKN Driveline - Customer Case Study

GKN Driveline, a leading supplier of automotive driveline components, faced production bottlenecks and high costs from using inflexible set gauges for part measurement. They needed a high-quality, flexible, and fast metrology system to avoid delays and handle new product orders. They partnered with Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence to find an inline solution.

Hexagon implemented an automated solution by integrating a GLOBAL Shop Floor CMM with PC-DMIS software directly into the production cell. This reduced the inspection time from a lengthy process to just 90 seconds per part, drastically cutting production delays. The flexible CMM eliminated the need for costly new gauges for each product, saving over 200,000 SEK per new part, while also providing outstanding quality data and increasing overall production speed.
