The customer, Giat Industries (now Groupe Nexter), required high-quality dimensional metrology solutions, particularly for inspecting the interior of its Leclerc armored vehicle. Personnel shortages and financial constraints prevented them from developing these solutions in-house, leading them to seek external expertise. They utilized a ROMER portable measuring arm from vendor Hexagon for its flexibility, accuracy, and mobility.

Hexagon's ROMER articulated arm provided the foundational solution, enabling the creation of a specialized service company, Dimension 3. This solution allowed Dimension 3 to offer subcontracting for metrology jobs, starting with Giat and expanding to major automotive manufacturers and subcontractors. The results were significant growth for Dimension 3, which expanded from a one-person operation to a team of three using five Hexagon ROMER arms. This growth enabled them to undertake spectacular jobs across Europe and Egypt in various industries, greatly expanding their operational radius and establishing a strong market profile.
