A Hexagon Case Study
The Ministry of Social Development in Lesotho, along with UNICEF, needed to expand its social aid registry to urban areas by surveying hundreds of thousands of households. The challenge was to accurately identify dwellings and manage a large-scale, remote data collection operation despite COVID-19 disruptions. They partnered with vendor Hexagon and their partner, GeoSpace International, to implement a solution.
The solution utilized Hexagon's HxGN Smart Census, built on M.App Enterprise, to manage field operations. This allowed for real-time tracking of fieldworkers and ensured data was only collected on-site. Despite pandemic lockdowns, the project successfully enumerated over 157,000 households and 547,000 individuals. Hexagon's technology enabled the ministry to create a robust database to accurately deliver vital aid to those in need.
