General Motors - Customer Case Study

General Motors Powertrain in Uzbekistan, a joint venture producing engines for Chevrolet vehicles, required a high-precision quality control solution for measuring critical engine components. They partnered with vendor Hexagon to implement a metrology system utilizing their Leitz Reference HP coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and QUINDOS 7 software to ensure the quality of parts with extremely tight tolerances.

Hexagon provided an all-in-one solution that included the CMMs, software, climate-controlled measuring cells, and comprehensive on-site support and training. This implementation gave GM the flexibility to measure a variety of components and became a vital part of their control process. The result was the ability to continuously monitor production stability and ensure the quality of the end-product, with the machines operating constantly during production hours.
