A Hexagon Case Study
Fichtner Consulting Engineers, an Indian engineering firm, was tasked with the detailed engineering for a complex $30 million power plant project. The challenge involved designing a main steam piping system to withstand extreme pressure and temperature over long distances, while also correcting misalignments in existing turbine flanges from the initial construction. To address this, they turned to Hexagon's CAESAR II and CADWorx software solutions.
Using Hexagon's software, Fichtner created a single, accurate model of the piping system, performed critical stress analyses, and designed special supports. This allowed them to correct the misalignment by making only minor adjustments, avoiding major remodeling. The solution significantly reduced labor hours, enabled the project to be completed ahead of schedule, and ensured the reliable operation of the plant's boilers and turbines, leading to high customer satisfaction.
