Fluid Techno, a provider of ship design services and energy saving devices, faced the challenge of improving ship fuel efficiency to meet strict environmental regulations and economic demands. To develop better hull designs more quickly and reduce the need for costly physical scale model tests, the company turned to vendor Hexagon and implemented their SC/Tetra CFD simulation software.

Hexagon's solution provided Fluid Techno with an easy-to-use and robust CFD tool for evaluating hull designs digitally. This allowed them to optimize ship shapes for reduced resistance, verify performance parameters early in the design phase, and significantly reduce the number of required physical model tests. The implementation led to a more efficient workflow, saving both time and cost, and supported the development of their Eco-Stator device which improves propulsive performance by 2-4%.
