Enersource Simplifies Operations Center with Smart Grid Technology

Enersource Hydro Mississauga, a Canadian electricity supplier, needed a more efficient method to manage its complex electric grid. The utility's operators had to switch between numerous disparate systems for day-to-day management, increasing complexity and slowing down data analysis. Enersource partnered with Hexagon to consolidate the user environment, eliminate paper-based processes, and better leverage its existing GIS data.

The solution implemented was an integrated operating model (IOM) developed with Hexagon’s Safety & Infrastructure division, which incorporated Hexagon’s outage management system (OMS) and other utility applications. This provided operators with a single interface to monitor, analyze, and control network data, leading to improved operational efficiency. The Hexagon solution enabled quicker detection and remediation of outages, helping Enersource ensure more reliable power delivery for its customers under both normal and storm conditions.
