A Hexagon Case Study
EDAG Engineering GmbH, an independent automotive development partner, needed to precisely measure deformation and expansion on vehicle components and prototypes under extreme climatic conditions. Their previous method using calibrated test pins was no longer sufficiently precise for their customers' demands, leading them to seek a photogrammetric solution from vendor Hexagon.
Hexagon implemented its DPA photogrammetric coordinate measurement system to perform non-contact 3D measurements. This solution allowed EDAG to capture high-precision deformation and gap measurements with speed, without affecting the test object through physical contact. The team at EDAG Wolfsburg reported being very satisfied, as the system from Hexagon solved their measurement tasks and ensured results were compatible with those from other EDAG sites.
