Dura Automotive Systems maintains acoustic performances of car windows thanks to Actran

Dura Automotive Systems, a global automotive supplier, faced the challenge of reducing vehicle weight by replacing side window glass with lighter acrylic material without compromising the interior cabin noise levels, a key NVH performance metric. To achieve this light-weighting objective, they turned to Hexagon and utilized their Actran software for acoustics simulation.

Using Hexagon's Actran, the Dura team performed a vibro-acoustic simulation on a vehicle model. The solution demonstrated that the lighter acrylic windows provided sufficient acoustic performance, allowing Dura Automotive Systems to successfully achieve their desired light-weighting while keeping interior noise levels constant.
