A Hexagon Case Study
Daihatsu, a Japanese car manufacturer, needed to develop small, lightweight, and highly efficient transmissions for its compact cars without compromising performance, all while shortening its development cycle and reducing costs. To meet this challenge, they partnered with vendor Hexagon and utilized their Romax Spectrum simulation software.
Hexagon's solution involved using Romax Spectrum to create and analyze full transmission models, which allowed Daihatsu to quickly calculate gear meshing and predict component distortion and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) phenomena. The results were significant: the development cycle was drastically shortened by nearly eliminating the need for additional CAE and physical prototyping, leading to reduced costs and the successful creation of a high-quality, cost-effective transmission for their vehicles.
