Compress Terabyte-Sized Imagery into a Single Source of Truth

GeoSpace International, a leading geospatial solution provider in Southern Africa, faced a significant challenge managing 46,000 individual image files totaling 30 TB of data for a national basemap project. This immense volume of uncompressed imagery was nearly impossible to store, manage, or efficiently serve to their clients, including various South African government agencies.

Using Hexagon's GeoCompressor solution, GeoSpace compressed all 46,000 files into a single, seamless ECW image in just 10 days. This achieved a 97% reduction in file size from the original data and a 71% savings over JPEG compression. The solution from Hexagon created a manageable single source of truth that is easily updated and streamed daily to thousands of end-users via ERDAS APOLLO, resulting in enormous savings in time, disk space, and cost.
