Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM), the private electricity concessionaire for Macau SAR, faced significant challenges managing high and medium voltage outages with its legacy system. The utility experienced long delays in determining the number of affected customers and their locations, which hampered communications with stakeholders and emergency services. To improve outage response and restoration times, CEM partnered with Hexagon for an integrated outage management and mobile workforce management solution.
Hexagon implemented a comprehensive system with a high-availability architecture that integrates with CEM’s GIS, SAP, and SCADA systems. This solution automated outage information generation, enabled real-time text message notifications, and provided a common operational map for dispatchers and field crews. The results for CEM include faster access to accurate outage data, reduced restoration times, improved field crew productivity, and enhanced stakeholder communications.
