Case Study: Safran Reosc improves additive manufacturing feasibility studies with Hexagon’s Simufact Additive

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Safran Reosc Case Study

Collaborative Simultaneous Engineering Tool for Additive Manufacturing

The customer, Safran Tech (the research and technology center for Safran), faced the challenge of expanding its use of additive manufacturing. To do so, they needed to qualify and deploy process simulation solutions to better understand the technology, accelerate development, and reduce risks like part distortion and failure within their operating units. They worked with vendor Hexagon, using their product Simufact Additive.

Hexagon's Simufact Additive solution was implemented to simulate the Laser Beam Melting process, allowing for virtual development and validation. This provided a major benefit by saving considerable time in production preparation and reducing the need for physical iterations. The software also fostered simultaneous engineering, improving dialogue between design and production teams. Hexagon's tool helped secure the integration of additive manufacturing into Safran's development processes.
