A Hexagon Case Study
Codem Composites, a manufacturer for the motorsport and aerospace industries, had a recently acquired CNC machine that was standing idle due to post-processing software issues and the economic uncertainty of the Coronavirus crisis. When called upon to help produce urgently needed PPE scrubs for the NHS, they reached out to vendor Hexagon for a solution to get the machine operational.
Hexagon provided a free evaluation licence of its ALPHACAM software, which solved the interface problems and allowed the machine to be put to immediate use. The software optimized the nesting of multiple scrub components, eliminating manual calculations and material waste. This enabled Codem Composites to begin cutting patterns for 500 complete scrubs per week within 24 hours of installation, significantly aiding the volunteer effort to supply frontline health workers.
