The customer, Carillon Industrial Services Ltd (CIS), a premier cutting tool distributor with over 40 years of experience, sought to improve the efficiency of machining difficult materials. To test this, they leveraged the Waveform roughing strategy in the EDGECAM 2023.1 software from vendor Hexagon.

Using Hexagon's EDGECAM Waveform cycle, CIS machined titanium components. The solution maintained a constant tool load and used chip prevention to enable high-speed machining with minimal spindle stress. The results were impressive: each part was completed in approximately 8 minutes with a very low spindle load of 11-13%. This led to dramatic time savings and extended tool life, proving the strategy's effectiveness on the challenging material.
