A Hexagon Case Study
Sealwise, a company based in Belfast, created a new waterproof and antibacterial sheet material for cabinetry but faced a challenge adapting their existing Cabinet Vision software from Hexagon to design for a unique manufacturing process. This process required cabinets to be machined from a single, continuous piece of material with specific grooves for folding, which was a significant departure from the software's standard parts-led approach.
Hexagon engineers developed a customized program for Cabinet Vision that overrode the standard workflow, enabling the design of a complete cabinet carcase as one piece with the necessary V-grooves. This solution, integrated with their Screen-To-Machine module, allowed Sealwise cabinets to be efficiently produced on a CNC router. The result is a revolutionary product used in UK flood zones and over 50 NHS hospitals, with benefits including superior waterproofing, a B1 fire rating, and powerful antibacterial properties that inhibit MRSA and e-coli.
