A Hexagon Case Study
The woodworking subcontractor Bystrup Maskinsnedkeri was tasked with manufacturing historically authentic furniture and ornaments for a Viking-era royal hall reconstruction. Their challenge was to create faithful and accurate representations of 1,300-year-old designs. They partnered with vendor Hexagon and utilized its ALPHACAM software to achieve this.
Hexagon's ALPHACAM software enabled cost-effective, advanced woodcarving through surface machining and full 5-axis simultaneous strategies. This solution allowed Bystrup to machine the components, including highly intricate sacred pillars, to tolerances of +/- 0.3 mm. The successful project resulted in the Royal Hall winning the prestigious "Carpenter Award 2020" and created pieces expected to last for 1,000 years.
