Burkhardt+Weber - Customer Case Study

Burkhardt+Weber, a manufacturer of large machining centres, required a highly accurate and large-capacity coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to perform in-house quality control on oversized components. This need was driven by their strategy of selling complete manufacturing processes to customers, which required them to provide verified measurement data for custom parts. They selected the Leitz PMM-F CMM from Hexagon to meet this challenge.

The solution from Hexagon provided a massive measurement range and the ability to handle parts weighing up to 8 tonnes. The associated QUINDOS software offered the flexibility to program measurements from various customer data. This implementation dramatically reduced measurement times; for example, the time to inspect a turntable housing was cut in half as it no longer required remounting. The Hexagon technology provided the gigantically flexible and accurate metrology needed to verify part quality and demonstrate manufacturing excellence to their customers.
