A Hexagon Case Study
Berlin Brandenburg Aerospace Technology AG (BBAT) faces the challenge of manufacturing thin-walled jet engine rotor housings to extremely tight tolerances of ±0.02 mm. Machining these tough, heat-resistant steel components with high reliability was critical, as errors discovered after unclamping were nearly impossible and costly to correct. To achieve this, they turned to vendor Hexagon's m&h touch probes and 3D Form Inspect software for integrated on-machine measurement.
The solution from Hexagon enabled BBAT to measure workpiece contours directly on their 5-axis machining centers. The m&h software generated probing programs, executed collision control, and automatically compensated for machine errors.
