Bayer AG, a major pharmaceutical company, faced the challenge of managing and maintaining its extensive portfolio of roughly 2,500 properties and over 26,000 technical facilities across 30 locations. To improve operational efficiency and gain better data on its assets, its Corporate Real Estate (CRE) division sought a digital solution to augment its existing Planon real estate management software, leading them to evaluate a pilot project with Hexagon.

Hexagon implemented its cloud-based visualization and collaboration solution, using the Leica RTC360 scanner to create a digital twin of a facility. This data was processed in Leica TruView Cloud and integrated with Planon, allowing for digital navigation, equipment tagging, and detailed maintenance information. The solution provided significant benefits including reduced on-site time for maintenance teams and contractors, the elimination of long search times for equipment, and more precise planning for repairs, delivering measurable positive business value as noted by Bayer AG.
