Automated OS/OW System Protects Infrastructure & Enhances Efficiency

The customer, Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI), faced the challenge of manually issuing hundreds of daily oversize/overweight permits for commercial vehicles. This paper-based process, which used maps and sticky notes to calculate routes and restrictions, was extremely time-consuming, labor-intensive, and prone to human error.

Hexagon implemented its automated OS/OW routing and permitting system, which it fully integrated into SGI’s existing SAM software. The solution automatically calculates safe, restriction-free routes, dramatically improving efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. The results include a streamlined workflow, the ability for 22% of carriers to self-issue permits online, and the assurance that drivers receive the safest possible routes, thereby protecting the province's road infrastructure.
