The customer, Audi, faced the challenge of optimising its single-part toolmaking production, specifically looking to reduce machining times and increase tool life during the pre-finishing of pressing tools. The company collaborated with the vendor, Hexagon, through its Vero Software division, to enhance the capabilities of its existing WorkNC CAM system.

Hexagon developed a new high-feed rate strategy for its WorkNC software in close partnership with Audi's toolmaking specialists. This innovative solution allowed for the use of specialized milling tool geometries, which had previously been incompatible with CAM programming.
