A Hexagon Case Study
Bystrup Maskinsnedkeri, a woodworking subcontractor, was challenged to manufacture highly accurate, historically authentic Viking-era furniture and decorations for the Sagnlandet Lejre museum. The project required intricate designs to be carved into wood with precision, a complex task that demanded advanced machining capabilities. To achieve this, they partnered with Hexagon, utilizing their ALPHACAM Ultimate software for the programming and machining processes.
The solution from Hexagon involved using ALPHACAM to program toolpaths for 5-axis machining, which machined intricate designs into wood with a tolerance of +/- 0.3 mm. This allowed for cost-effective, advanced woodcarving that was then hand-finished, resulting in perfect historical replicas. The success of this innovative application of Hexagon's technology contributed to the Royal Hall winning the prestigious "Carpenter Award 2020."
