A Hexagon Case Study
Stairplan, a UK-based staircase manufacturer, needed a way to efficiently program the machining for its wide array of entirely bespoke staircase designs. Their challenge was the immense amount of time required to program the complex and unique elements of each project, which was hindering their ability to meet customer demand and delivery promises.
The solution was implemented using purpose-written macros in Hexagon's Alphacam software. These macros automated the creation of drawings and toolpaths for bespoke elements like drilling and special fixings, drastically cutting programming time for a staircase's internal aspects from one day to just one hour. This 90% reduction in programming time, provided by Hexagon, enabled Stairplan to maintain a strict ten-day turnaround on even the most complex orders and support their significant growth.
