A Hexagon Case Study
Saint Paul Technical College needed to prepare its cabinetmaking students for a modern manufacturing workforce that increasingly relies on digital tools and CNC machinery. The challenge was to provide real-world, production-based training that balanced traditional skills with contemporary technology. Partnering with Hexagon, the college implemented the ALPHACAM CAM system and the CABINET VISION design-to-manufacturing solution as core teaching tools.
The solution from Hexagon allowed students to gain hands-on experience in a production environment by working on projects for non-profit organizations. Using the software, students learned project design, layout, and how to generate cutlists and machine code, seamlessly moving between traditional and CNC processing methods. As a result, graduates are now highly sought after, with plentiful job opportunities in the region, directly benefiting the local economy and ensuring a pipeline of skilled labor for manufacturers.
