A Hexagon Case Study
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd faced a challenge in its two-wheeler division, where the traditional design process relied on building multiple physical prototypes, a time-consuming and costly method. The company sought to bring new models to market faster by using computer simulation to evaluate vehicle kinematics and calculate component loads, requiring a powerful multibody dynamics (MBD) software solution from a vendor like Hexagon.
The chosen solution was Hexagon's Adams multibody dynamics software. This enabled Mahindra to create a virtual testing design process, accurately predicting performance and optimizing designs before building a physical prototype. The results were significant: the number of required prototypes was reduced from 4-5 to 2-3, cutting the product development time by 7 to 21 weeks and providing substantial time and cost savings.
