A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Al-Met Case Study

5 Axis edgecam and javelin pave the way for AI-Met's nuclear diversification

Al-Met Limited, a manufacturer of flow control components for the oil and gas industry, sought to diversify its operations into the nuclear market. This move required achieving full part traceability and improving production control across its machine shop. To meet this challenge, the company turned to vendor Hexagon for their JAVELIN production control software and EDGECAM programming solution for their new 5-axis machining centers.

By implementing Hexagon's solutions, Al-Met achieved significant gains. The use of EDGECAM with 5-axis machining slashed the processing time for a specific part from four days to under two hours. Hexagon’s JAVELIN system provided full shop floor visibility, enabling real-time tracking of every job and vastly improving user productivity with quick access to all relevant data. This gave the company the traceability and efficient production control required to successfully diversify.
