TechnipFMC Enhances Brownfield Project Execution With Hexagon Solutions

TechnipFMC, a global leader in energy technologies, faced significant challenges in managing large point cloud data from laser scans for a refinery revamp project in Senegal. Their design teams previously wasted time working with overly large and slow-to-process files. To overcome this, they turned to vendor Hexagon PPM and implemented its Intergraph Smart Laser Data Manager and Leica JetStream solutions to enhance point cloud data management and integration.

The Hexagon PPM solution allowed TechnipFMC to instantly convert, load, and render massive point cloud files within seconds, a process that previously took up to 15 minutes per file. This integration enabled designers to accurately model new equipment within the existing plant using Smart 3D, eliminating clashes and minimizing costly on-site changes. The project realized major efficiency gains, contributing to the overall goal of increasing the refinery's productivity by 30%.
