Strategic Projects Inc. (SPI), a Canadian EPCM company serving the oil and gas industry, needed to simplify the workflow between engineering and fabrication while reducing reliance on traditional drawing packages. Hexagon PPM helped SPI replace AutoCAD Plant 3D with CADWorx Plant Professional and keep the rest of the software environment largely unchanged, making implementation straightforward. SPI used CADWorx to regenerate specs, validate models against P&IDs, and send native DWG files directly to fabrication, with laser scans improving accuracy on brownfield projects. The result was a 12% reduction in mechanical design and drafting hours, improving both project cost and schedule.
