Sibelga, the sole distributor of gas and electricity for the Brussels capital region, faced significant challenges with an obsolete geographic information system (GIS) that lacked vendor support. The company needed to modernize its system to reduce software update costs, integrate multiple tools, simplify its IT architecture, and find a complete asset life-cycle management solution. Hexagon PPM's Safety & Infrastructure division provided its advanced utility GIS software to meet these expanding needs.

The solution implemented by Hexagon PPM, known internally as "ATLAS," integrated all asset data into a single database, substantially improving data quality and timeliness. This resulted in greater operational efficiency, more coherent IT architecture, and better customer service. Due to the success of the system, Sibelga plans to add a new module for its telecommunications network and use it as a foundation for a real-time outage management system.
