Case Study: Severstal Proekt improves gas cleaning unit design and coordination with Hexagon PPM Smart 3D

Severstal-proekt Becomes the First Steel Industry Customer of Hexagon Ppm Technologies In Russia

Severstal-proekt, the general designer for JSC Severstal in Russia, needed to modernize and redesign a new gas cleaning entrapment unit while bringing its team up to speed on Hexagon PPM technologies. The project aimed to improve dust collection performance, coordinate work across different design departments, and create an as-built model using tools such as Intergraph Smart 3D, SmartSketch, and Smart Review.

Hexagon PPM implemented SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators technologies, centered on Smart 3D, to model the existing smoke recovery system and the new gas cleaning unit, integrate prior SolidEdge groundwork, and support simultaneous construction. As a result, Severstal-proekt delivered the project in eight months, trained more than 20 employees, prepared 27 rolled steel catalogues, 17 pipe catalogues, and a full ventilation catalogue, and established a successful coordination process across design departments using different systems.
