SAFE S.P.A. (SAFE) is an Italy-based oil and gas company that has been designing and manufacturing CNG, Oil & Gas, and biogas compression stations since 1975. To address fatigue failures, high vibration, and cyclic stress problems in compressor skids caused by pulsation-induced forces, SAFE turned to Hexagon PPM’s CADWorx Plant Professional and CAESAR II for better mechanical response analysis.

Hexagon PPM implemented a workflow combining CADWorx and CAESAR II to model compression skids in 3D and automatically generate analysis models for API 618-based mechanical response studies. The solution helped SAFE save 70% of the time needed to generate calculation models, reduced errors in model building, and made it easier to manage complex piping systems while improving natural frequency and pulsation analysis to help avoid fatigue failures.
