Richard Design Services, a U.S.-based engineering firm in the power industry, needed to deliver front-end development and detail design for a fast-track renewable diesel facility in Norco, Louisiana. Faced with a 12-month engineering schedule, a complex plant scope, and hundreds of thousands of linear feet of piping and equipment, the company turned to Hexagon PPM products including CADWorx Plant Professional, CAESAR II, and Intergraph Smart Instrumentation.

Hexagon PPM provided an integrated design and engineering solution that allowed Richard Design Services to generate piping isometrics, stress analysis reports, structural drawings, and automatic bills of material more efficiently. The approach reduced the project from an estimated 300,000 work hours to 200,000, saving about 100,000 hours, while enabling the 10,000 BPD facility to be completed in 23 months and operate above its original design capacity.
