Pörner Group Improves Efficiency With a Centralized Piping Classes and Specifications Database

Pörner Group, a leading independent engineering contractor for process plants in Central Europe, needed a better way to manage specs and materials across multiple locations and subsidiaries. To reduce the manual effort caused by its old client/server setup and fragmented data storage, the company turned to Hexagon PPM and its Intergraph Smart Materials, Smart Reference Data, and Smart Standard Database products.

Hexagon PPM implemented a centralized Citrix-based environment to host the engineering tools, migrate existing data, and streamline piping specifications, materials management, reporting, and CAD interfaces. The new setup improved efficiency, centralized access to piping data, and is expected to save Pörner Group up to €100,000 per year through time savings and reduced administrative overhead.
