Petroleum Development Oman cuts alarm rates to under 12 per shift with Hexagon PPM

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the leading oil and gas exploration and production company in Oman, faced a critical challenge with its alarm management system, where console operators were inundated with up to 4,000 alarms per hour. This overwhelming volume hindered effective response and posed operational risks. PDO sought a solution provider that could offer both technology and expertise, leading them to partner with Hexagon PPM and implement its PAS AlarmManagement™ solution.

Hexagon PPM worked collaboratively with PDO to host alarm rationalization workshops and implement best practices. This initiative drastically reduced the alarm rate presented to operators to an average of three per hour, putting PDO in line with ISA/IEC standards and greatly improving operator efficiency and safety.
