Nuon Digitizes Asset Information Management with Hexagon PPM Solutions

Nuon, part of the Vattenfall group, needed a centralized asset information management system for its new gas storage plant in Epe, where no existing software was in place. The company wanted a simple, intuitive way for engineers to find, update, and manage technical information while supporting safety, environmental, availability, and SAP integration requirements. Nuon worked with Hexagon PPM and used SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Instrumentation, and SmartPlant P&ID.

Hexagon PPM implemented a digital asset information management solution centered on SmartPlant Foundation, integrating contractor documents, technical records, and as-built P&IDs into one system and connecting it with SAP PM. The result was a stronger digital twin of the facility, improved data integrity, faster compliance responses, and about 50% time savings in locating technical documentation. Nuon also used the system to keep loops up to date and to streamline maintenance planning and issue handling.
