Mega Oil Operator Saves $1 Million Annually by Switching to Smart Cloud

Mega Oil Operator, a lead operator in a Canadian oil sands joint venture, needed to replace Livelink, its non-preferred document management system, to cut rising operating costs and better support engineering and technical documentation. Hexagon PPM was brought in to help address the challenge using SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Markup Plus, and Intergraph Smart Data Validator (SDV) on the Lead Operator’s Intergraph Smart Cloud environment.

Hexagon PPM implemented a data management solution based on SmartPlant Foundation in the Lead Operator’s EDW configuration, designed for project/as-built operations and concurrent engineering. The new cloud-based system went live successfully, saved the project $1 million in annual operating costs, and created a reusable configuration that Mega Oil Operator can deploy across other assets to streamline work and reduce reliance on multiple systems.
