LNG Joint Venture Utilizes Smart Cloud for FEED

Leading LNG Operator, a global energy consortium developing an LNG export terminal in British Columbia, needed a better way to manage FEED and prepare for smooth handover into later project phases. The company wanted a data-centric approach that could improve business processes from design through operations while supporting collaboration across partners and contractors. Hexagon PPM’s Intergraph Smart Cloud platform, along with tools such as SmartPlant Enterprise for Owner Operators, Smart 3D, SmartPlant Electrical, and SmartPlant Instrumentation, was used to support this effort.

Hexagon PPM implemented a full-cloud FEED environment that enabled real-time information sharing, early access to project and equipment data, and integration of the lead operator’s product catalogue with planning tools. The solution also supported reuse of information from prior plants and partial projects, helping reduce rework and improve procurement efficiency. By applying this data-centric approach early, Leading LNG Operator expects to achieve savings of 1.5% and gain a smoother transition from FEED to detail design, commissioning, startup, and operations.
