A Hexagon PPM Case Study
Lloyd’s Register Asia in Sri Lanka needed to complete a fast third-party design review for a new LPG storage and terminal facility, covering 13 pieces of static equipment and about 100 critical piping lines. The project involved complex piping and equipment under ASME B31.3, B31.4, and Sec. VIII Div. 2, with tight deadlines, multiple load cases, and frequent design changes. Hexagon PPM products used included CAESAR II®, PV Elite®, and NozzlePRO™.
Hexagon PPM enabled Lloyd’s Register to model the equipment and piping in an integrated workflow, quickly check nozzle and flange loads, perform FEA where needed, and generate auditable reports with a single click. Using PV Elite and CAESAR II, the team accommodated late design changes, completed multiple nozzle opening checks, identified non-compliance issues, and saved significant man-hours. The result was faster turnaround, more accurate analysis, and a smoother review process for both equipment and piping.
