A Hexagon PPM Case Study
Lloyd’s Register, working on the Rabab Harweel Integrated Project in Oman, needed to certify a complex vessel arrangement to ASME Section VIII Division 2 standards under a very tight one-week deadline. The equipment included a large horizontal prefilter separator with a mounted vertical vapor column, sump, multiple nozzles, and significant wind, piping, and load-combination challenges. Hexagon PPM’s PV Elite and NozzlePRO were used to analyze the integrated system and handle the local nozzle assessments.
Using Hexagon PPM’s PV Elite with NozzlePRO integration, Lloyd’s Register was able to model the vessel and attached components as one system, identify non-compliances, avoid potential code violations, and complete complex FEA where needed. The project was finished in one week, with the initial review done in 1.5 days and the full certification completed in just 20 hours instead of the 30 hours allotted, saving 10 labor hours. The quick turnaround also led to an additional 200-hour project assignment.
