Case Study: ECO FOX improves refinery efficiency with Hexagon PPM CADWorx solutions

Leading biofuel provider relocates existing equipment to improve production, quality, and profitability of its Vasto plant

ECO FOX, a leading biofuels producer in Italy, needed to improve the glycerin refining process at its Vasto plant by relocating and integrating existing equipment into a very constrained and poorly documented facility. The company worked with Hexagon PPM, using CADWorx Plant Professional, CADWorx Design Review, CADWorx Steel, CAESAR II, PV Elite, PV Fabricator, and Isogen to plan the retrofit and ensure the new layout would be accurate and clash-free.

Hexagon PPM helped ECO FOX and OMA S.p.A. create an intelligent 3D as-built model from laser scans and use it to redesign piping, structures, and equipment tie-ins. The project delivered 96 new pipelines, remodeled about 30 existing pipelines, and installed 40 equipment pieces in just 175 m², while improving constructability, avoiding costly rework, accelerating the schedule, and providing high-quality documentation for future plant modifications.
