Larsen & Toubro Reduces Design Cycle Times With CAESAR II

Larsen & Toubro Limited, a major Indian heavy engineering company serving the chemical, petrochemical, refinery, fertilizer, and gasification sectors, needed to design and fabricate complex piping systems for ammonia and synthetic gas projects in India and China. The challenge was to ensure code compliance and accurately evaluate riser and down-comer piping for operating, wind, and seismic loads. Hexagon PPM’s CAESAR II® stress analysis and piping flexibility software was used to support these calculations.

Using Hexagon PPM’s CAESAR II®, L&T engineers were able to visualize system behavior, make quick element-by-element design changes, and run multiple iterations to optimize the piping layout. The software’s clear reports and animation capabilities helped the team understand load cases and apply corrective measures efficiently. As a result, Larsen & Toubro significantly reduced design cycle times while improving confidence in code compliance and overall design quality.
