Case Study: OHL Industrial achieves better design and project coordination with Hexagon PPM

Intergraph Smart 3D and Intergraph Smart Materials provide the construction company with additional design and procurement quality

OHL Industrial, a major Spanish construction group, needed to deliver a complex hydrocarbon storage terminal in the busy port of Algeciras while improving design quality, coordination across disciplines, and turnaround time for engineering changes. Hexagon PPM supported the project with Smart 3D, Smart Instrumentation, Smart P&ID, Smart Materials, Smart Review, and CAESAR II, helping the team replace legacy workflows and customize catalogs to OHL’s requirements.

Hexagon PPM’s integrated software enabled OHL Industrial to model the terminal in 3D, manage materials centrally, perform piping flexibility analysis, and streamline engineering deliverables across the project lifecycle. The result was better design quality, faster processing of information and modifications, improved coordination between disciplines, and full project traceability. The project was completed successfully with 22 storage tanks, more than 200 pieces of mechanical equipment, over 50 engineers, and an investment of 130 million euros.
